Introducing kids to Yoga
Why do we practice yoga? What made us attract to Yoga? What changes did it bring in our lives? and is yoga for kids? should they be introduced to yoga early in their lives? The answer to all these questions ideally would be in a positive and productive tone.
In most cases each one of us who practices Yoga went through ups and downs in life which made us realize the importance of Yoga. Those of us who despite having achieved great success felt a certain void in us... Practicing Yoga helped fill this void or it helped realize that there never really was a void in the first place. Imagine if we were introduced to Yoga as a child, how different our lives would have turned out.
Why yoga for kids?
Kids these days do not have it easy growing up. The competitiveness in exams & sports, increasing use of gadgets, lack of physical activity, keeping up with current ‘trends’, etc. Along with that Preadolescence & Adolescence are the most pivotal years for any human being. The kind of life experiences one has in these years determines the course of your life.
It is very important that early in life, a child gets exposed to the right things, things that work from within. Because arrangements we make in the world around us can only be managed to a certain extent. As long as your wellbeing is subject to and enslaved to the external situation, you being well is going to be accidental because nobody has 100% control over the outside situations. Therefore Yoga for kids. And the ideal age for kids to start Yoga would be 7 years and above.
The Dalai Lama once said, "If every 8-year-old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation.”
The wisdom in that sentence goes deeper than you can comprehend. If kids are established in Yoga at the right time they can handle their life situations with much ease and smoothness, without being affected by what’s happening around them. How we raise our next generation and what kind of experiences we give them will largely determine the fate of this planet. It is a huge responsibility on our part.
How can you introduce your child to yoga?

Our monthly Yoga for Kids program will be conducted online introducing simple yoga for children, allowing each child to develop and live in optimal health and inner peace. It is offered by Isha Foundation teachers, trained under the guidance of Sadhguru.
The program will help enhance flexibility, improve attention and concentration, increase memory & immunity.
